I have a coil of 1095 Blue Tempered Steel strip, 1/16" thick by 5/8" wide, Rockwell hardness C49 to 51, that I am using to make leaf springs for my loco project. It is PN 31977259 from MSC. I used part of this coil to make some of the springs for the locomotive several years ago. Larrin's book "Knife Engineering" is an invaluable tool for getting really good results in HT. Larrin's HT regimen for 1095 is: Heat to 1425-1475°F and hold for 10 minutes. (HT oven is the best way to do this) Quench in fast oil.
