Web11 okt. 2011 · Discussion Starter · #1 · Apr 4, 2011. I have a 2011 MCS manual, and I've been noticing in 6th gear at highway speeds (65-75 MPH) the car is revving at 3000-4200 RPM. This seems really high to me, seeing as every other car I've had has kept the revs down in top gear to save gas. According to the trip computer, I get about 32 MPG (US) at ... Do doubt the auto purrs a little lower in 5th (.72 gear) compared to the manuals 6th (.84 gear). I get 18-19mpg on @72mpg interstate, compared to 20-21mpg @ 60-65 mph on country highways.

He stated if you're going 80 MPH say on the interstate and drop out of OD or 6th gear and go to automatic (Drive) your RPM will not change. I didn't believe him ---until I tried it. It's true. But where my "speed limit" is 75 mph, I am doing 41 to 4300 rpm in 6th gear. The OP never mentioned what his speed limit was so it is pretty hard to determine if there is a problem or not. Web11 apr. 2024 · Put your car in manual mode, 6th gear, below 50mph, and try going up even the slightest incline. The car will CLEARLY be struggling, because it's completely out of its power band, and even that of the turbo. So it's giving all its got, for little to no return. This causes tons of problems for the engine itself as well as the transmission.
Web21 aug. 2024 · The lower gearing in the 140 allows me to pull 2nd gear from about 10mph which is fine for rolling on at roundabouts.
