WebI have ER2SE and used to like it a lot. I think it does exceptionally well in the clarity of the mid-range, so if that's what you are looking for, then it is a great deal. You don't need to spend the extra for the ER4SR (though strictly speaking outside of a studio or production environment nobody genuinely needs to spend much on audio gear) but if you can afford it then I think it is marginally superior technically and a nicer product. The ER2XR takes the same tuning and gives it extra low bass response. The result is a more musical, less tool-like, presentation. In fact, the bass response is pretty darn good with surprising texture and tactile-ness.
